How we collect it

  • Directly from you — when you complete an estimate or contact form, upload photos, call or text us, email us, message us on WhatsApp, Telegram or social media, or visit our shop.
  • Automatically — through cookies, pixels, and similar technologies when you browse the Site (see Section 3).
  • From third parties — your insurance company or adjuster when they coordinate a claim with us, towing companies, parts suppliers, and advertising or analytics providers such as Google.

2. How We Use Your Information

  • To respond to your inquiries and provide free estimates.
  • To schedule, perform, document, and warranty collision repair and mechanical services.
  • To communicate with you about your vehicle, repair status, and appointments.
  • To work with your insurance carrier on a claim, when you ask us to.
  • To process payments, issue invoices, and maintain business and tax records.
  • To operate, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the Site.
  • To measure and improve our advertising, including Google Ads and social media campaigns.
  • To send you promotional offers, where you have given the consent required by law.
  • To comply with legal obligations, including California Bureau of Automotive Repair recordkeeping requirements, and to establish or defend legal claims.

We do not use personal information for any purpose that is incompatible with the purposes described above without first notifying you.

3. Cookies and Similar Technologies

The Site uses cookies, pixels, tags, and local storage. A cookie is a small text file placed on your device that lets a website or its partners recognize your browser.

  • Strictly necessary cookies keep the Site working, remember form entries, and protect against abuse.
  • Analytics cookies tell us how visitors find and use the Site so we can improve it.
  • Advertising cookies allow us and our advertising partners to measure campaign performance and to show you relevant ads on other websites and apps.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. If you block strictly necessary cookies, parts of the Site may not work correctly. Browser help pages for Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and Edge explain how.

4. Advertising, Google Ads, and Analytics

We advertise our services online and we measure how those ads perform. This section describes the third-party advertising and analytics services we use and how you can opt out of them.

Google services

  • We use Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the Site.
  • We use Google Ads, including conversion tracking and remarketing (also called retargeting), so that our ads may be shown to you on Google Search, YouTube, and websites in the Google Display Network after you visit our Site.
  • Third-party vendors, including Google, use first-party cookies (such as the Google Analytics cookie) and third-party cookies (such as the Google advertising cookie) together to inform, optimize, and serve ads based on your past visits to the Site.
  • We and third-party vendors, including Google, use these cookies together to report how our ad impressions, other uses of ad services, and interactions with those ad impressions relate to visits to our Site.
  • Google's use of information collected through its advertising services is described in How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services and in the Google Privacy Policy.

Other advertising and communication tools

Depending on the campaign, we may also use the Meta (Facebook and Instagram) pixel, Yelp advertising, and call tracking or chat widgets. These services may set their own cookies and receive information about your visit. Their handling of that information is governed by their own privacy policies.

How to opt out of personalized advertising

Opting out stops personalized advertising. You will still see ads, but they will be less relevant to you.

5. How We Share Information

We share personal information only as described below. We do not exchange your personal information for money.

  • Insurance carriers and adjusters — to prepare estimates, submit supplements, and coordinate claim payment, when you ask us to handle your claim.
  • Service providers — parts suppliers, sublet vendors (glass, calibration, alignment, towing), payment processors, shop management and estimating software, website hosting (Tilda), email and messaging providers, and IT support. They may use the information only to provide services to us.
  • Advertising and analytics partners — as described in Section 4.
  • Professional advisors — accountants, auditors, and attorneys.
  • Legal and safety — when required by law, subpoena, or court order, to comply with the California Bureau of Automotive Repair or other regulators, or to protect our rights, property, or the safety of others.
  • Business transfers — in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, subject to this Policy.

"Sale" and "sharing" under California law

We do not sell personal information in exchange for money, and we do not sell or share the personal information of consumers we know to be under 16 years of age. However, our use of advertising cookies for remarketing may be treated as "sharing" personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising under the CCPA. The categories that may be shared this way are identifiers, internet or network activity, and inferences, and the purpose is to show you relevant ads for our services. You can stop this at any time by using the opt-out methods in Section 4 or Section 7.

6. Text Messages and Phone Calls

If you give us your phone number, you agree that we may contact you at that number about your estimate, repair, or vehicle, including by text message and by calls that may be autodialed or prerecorded. Consent to marketing messages is not a condition of purchasing any goods or services from us.

  • Message and data rates may apply. Message frequency varies.
  • Reply STOP to any text message to opt out of further texts. Reply HELP for assistance.
  • You may also opt out by calling (213) 762-4888 or emailing info@vacollision.com.
  • We will still be able to contact you about an active repair order after you opt out of marketing messages.

7. Email Marketing

If we send you promotional email, every message will identify us and include an unsubscribe link. You can also unsubscribe by replying to the message or emailing info@vacollision.com. We will honor your request promptly. Transactional messages about an active repair are not marketing and will continue.

8. Photos of Your Vehicle

Photos you send us, and photos we take during inspection and repair, are used to prepare estimates, document damage, communicate with your insurer, and maintain repair records. We may use before-and-after photos of vehicles in our marketing only if they do not show your license plate, VIN, name, or any other detail that identifies you, or if you have given us permission. If you would prefer that we never use photos of your vehicle in marketing, tell us and we will note it on your file.

9. Data Retention

We keep repair orders, estimates, invoices, and related records for the periods required by California law, including Bureau of Automotive Repair recordkeeping rules and applicable tax and warranty periods, and then delete or de-identify them. Website analytics and advertising data are retained for the periods set by the relevant platform. Inquiries that do not lead to a repair are kept only as long as needed to respond and for a reasonable follow-up period.

10. Data Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS) on the Site, access controls, and vendor agreements. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please do not send Social Security numbers, driver's license numbers, or full payment card numbers by email, text, or through the Site's forms.

11. Your California Privacy Rights

If you are a California resident, the CCPA gives you the following rights.

  • Right to know — the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected about you, the sources, our purposes, and the categories of third parties to whom we disclose it.
  • Right to delete — ask us to delete personal information we collected from you, subject to legal exceptions such as completing your repair, warranty obligations, and records we must keep by law.
  • Right to correct — ask us to correct inaccurate personal information.
  • Right to opt out of sale or sharing — direct us to stop sharing your personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.
  • Right to limit use of sensitive personal information — we do not collect or use sensitive personal information for purposes that trigger this right.
  • Right to non-discrimination — we will not deny you service, charge you a different price, or provide a lower quality of service because you exercised a privacy right.

How to submit a request

Email info@vacollision.com with the subject line "California Privacy Request," or call (213) 762-4888. To protect your information, we will ask you to verify your identity, usually by confirming details we already have on file, such as the name, phone number, and vehicle associated with a repair order. We will respond within 45 days, and will tell you if we need an additional 45 days.

An authorized agent may submit a request on your behalf with written permission signed by you, and we may still ask you to verify your identity directly.

Opt-out preference signals

We honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) and similar browser-based opt-out preference signals as a valid request to stop sharing personal information from that browser for cross-context behavioral advertising.

Shine the Light

California Civil Code Section 1798.83 lets California residents request information about disclosure of personal information to third parties for their direct marketing purposes. We do not disclose personal information to third parties for their own direct marketing.

12. Do Not Track

Some browsers send a "Do Not Track" (DNT) signal. There is no common industry standard for how to respond to DNT, and the Site does not currently respond to DNT signals. We do honor Global Privacy Control signals as described in Section 11.

13. Children's Privacy

The Site is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, and we do not sell or share the personal information of anyone under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us at info@vacollision.com and we will delete it.

14. Third-Party Websites

The Site links to third-party websites and platforms, such as Google Maps, Google Business Profile, Yelp, Instagram, YouTube, WhatsApp, and Telegram. We are not responsible for their content or privacy practices. Review their privacy policies before providing them with personal information.

15. Where We Operate

We are located in Monterey Park, California, and we serve customers in the United States. Our service providers process information in the United States. If you access the Site from outside the United States, you understand that your information will be processed in the United States.

16. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page, and material changes will be announced on this page. Continued use of the Site after an update means you accept the revised Policy. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
